How to Pack Jewelry for Your Next Vacation
It’s that time of year again. The time when we take some well-deserved time off to travel. Whether you like to explore new places, or sunbathe on the beach, you’ll probably want to bring along some jewels. But how do you pack it all up so it’s secure? Our jewelry (and travel fanatics) share their tips below.
Earrings and Rings
Place one pair of earrings or a ring in each compartment of a pill box to keep them organized and safe. This way, they won’t get tossed around your luggage and they won’t be in a big pile scratching and denting each other. You can even put them in the corresponding day to coordinate with your outfits!
Necklaces
Undo the clasp and put each chain through a straw, then fasten. It’s as simple as that! Then tuck them in a folded shirt to keep them from bouncing around your bag.
Bangles and Bracelets
Roll up a soft garment and slide each bracelet on while leaving a little room in between. Then just layer it in between more clothing to protect the pieces from anything else that might cause damage.
Want everything in one place? A travel-size jewelry organizer like this one has plenty of room for an indecisive packer and can be easily stored in your suitcase for safe keeping.
Bonus tips to save you from a jewelry nightmare:
Decide what jewelry you want to wear with each outfit and don’t pack more than you need
Never bring uninsured fine jewelry. It’s tempting but it’s also heartbreak waiting to happen.
Minimize the jewelry you wear to the airport. Getting through security is already annoying enough.
Always keep jewelry in your carry-on. That way you know where it is at all times. If you’ve ever had checked luggage lost, you’ll understand.
Safe travels and enjoy!
